The Public Education Action Team of the League of Women Voters of Orange, Durham and Chatham counties is hosting a presentation, featuring Representative Graig Meyer, on Monday November 14, 2016, at 10:30 AM at the Chapel Hill Public Library, Meeting Room B. Representative Meyer will discuss the future of public education in North Carolina, potential legislation affecting our state's education system, and the role public advocacy can play in helping to shape education. Graig R. Meyer (D) is a member of the North Carolina House of Representatives, representing District 50. He has 16 years of experience leading equity work in public schools; was director of the Blue Ribbon Mentor-Advocate program; and served as the Director of Student Equity and Volunteer Services for the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools. He was a co-creator of the Student Six: Strategies for Culturally Proficient Classroom Practice, a nationally recognized teacher training program, and works with school districts and non-profit organizations across the country to improve public education. Representative Meyer was first appointed to the chamber on October 30, 2013. The Chapel Hill Public Library is located at 100 Library Drive in Chapel Hill. The program is free and open to the public. Free parking is available.
