The artists of the Hillsborough Gallery of Arts respond, in their own mediums, to the music of composer, pianist, arranger and lyricist Billy Strayhorn who spent almost 30 years collaborating with bandleader and composer Duke Ellington. Strayhorn spent his boyhood summers with his grandparents in Hillsborough where he learned to play the piano. Opening reception during Hillsborough’s Last Friday Art Walk, February 28th 6-9pm. Located at 121 N. Churton St., Hillsborough NC, the gallery is owned by 22 local artists and features painting, sculpture, photography, glass art, jewelry, wood, pottery & fiber art. Winter hours: 10-6 Monday - Saturday, 12-4 Sunday.
