Hillsborough Classic Films presents "Vertigo" (1958; 128 minutes)
The Hillsborough Classic Film Society will be showing, free to the public, the Hitchcock film Vertigo, starring Kim Novak and Jimmy Stewart, at 3pm on Sunday, February 24, in the meeting room of the Orange County Public Library on Margaret Lane. The film will be introduced by Francesca Talenti of Hillsborough, a director and designer whose work has been widely exhibited. Vertigo was made in 1958. It was directed by Alfred Hitchcock and starred Jimmy Stewart and Grace Kelly. Although recognized as one of the great films noir, it also ranks high in the history of film generally. In 2012 it replaced Citizen Kane as the “greatest film ever made” in the British Film Institute’s critics’ poll. In the AFI’s 2007 ranking it came in as the ninth greatest American film of all time. Popcorn is free; come a little early to be sure of getting a good seat! (Starting in June, the Society will take a break until the fall to take stock and to make plans for the future, and it hopes to involve those on the mailing list in the process. You can register at the website, www.hillsboroughclassicfilms.com.)
