The typewriter is one of the great inventions of modernity. Once it began being widely used, the typewriter quickly changed the act of writing forever. It completely altered communications overall and became a critical tool for businesses and writers in a time when handwriting was still the primary method of non-verbal communication. This exhibition examines the technological innovations illustrated by several typewriters and allows the viewer to see the evolution of this machine throughout the 20th century. It also explores some of the famous authors who used these types of machines to produce their works.
