“A Celebration of the Third Provincial Congress: Transforming Visions of Freedom in Reality”
On September 6, the Orange County Historical Museum and its partners will be hosting a grand, day-long celebration to commemorate the Third Provincial Congress, which was held in Hillsborough 250 years ago. Activities include academic speakers at the Orange County Public Library, a colonial market on the grounds of the historic Orange County Courthouse – with Revolutionary era re-enactors, displays from civic organizations and museums, children’s activities, and vendors – as well as a dramatization of the congress inside the courthouse.
From 10AM to 6PM on the grounds of the Old Courthouse, participants will have the opportunity to visit with costumed re-enactors from the Sons of the American Revolution and members of the North Carolina Historical Reenactment Society.
The dramatization inside the courthouse will be presented eight times throughout the day to everyone an opportunity to experience it.
