DESCRIPTION:Join us at SAF in Karen's Club (back room) for two special screenings of the Bowl.\n\n\nThe Bowl (2025)\n\n\n\n\n\nSix students embark to answer the toughest moral questions.\n\n\n\n\n\nStory Summary\n\nThis documentary follows a team of six North Carolina high school girls and their teacher as they prepare for and compete in the National High School Ethics Bowl (NHSEB). This program challenges students to think about some of the toughest questions facing society   the global prison complex\, dangers and rules on artificial intelligence\, policies on sex education\, redesigning drug policies\, and more. The film begins with the team's journey leading up to the competition\, capturing their intense preparation and deep engagement with ethical cases. Through interviews and classroom footage\, we see the students' excitement\, nerves\, and the bonds they form while grappling with complex moral issues.\n\nImpact Goals\n\nWe want to drastically expand awareness and participation of the program to schools across the US. It already exists as an amazing resource to support young people but the program lacks mass communication/representation to attract more schools. Further\, we believe this type of program offers value for people of all kinds so a secondary goal is to encourage this type of thinking across society in general.\n\nYou can help us expand this program and encourage more tough conversations by hosting a screening!
