DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the Intro to Spinning workshop\, in which you will learn to use a drop spindle to create yarn singles and use the same spindle to ply new yarn. \n\n\n\nBecome functional in one of humanity's oldest arts in just a couple hours\, and practice to become proficient for a lifetime.\n\n\n\nPlus\, enjoy a chance to handle different types of wool and spinning fiber!\n\n\n\nStudents will each also take home a handcrafted spindle to keep creating new yarn treasures.\n\n\n\nStudents will learn:\n\n- An overview of different textiles and fiber\n\n- How to use a drop spindle to make yarn\n\n- How to ply yarn on a drop spindle\n\n \n\nEach student will receive:\n\n- At least one ounce of specially dyed or natural wool\n\n- A unique\, turned wood student spindle\n\n- The ability to spin yarn for enjoyment and survival\n\n \n\nThursday May 1st\, 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm\n\nRegistration Fee: $100 (includes supplies incl a handcrafted spindle for you to keep)\n\nFor adults and mature teens\n\nInstructed by Alanna Hoffman\n\nLocation: Margaret Lane Gallery Annex/F-Stop 2\, 302 W Corbin Street\, Hillsborough\, NC\n\nRegistration: www.margaretlanegallery.com/workshop-registration
